Cell Phone Use in Connecticut Schools
The Connecticut State Board of Education believes that all students deserve an excellent education that supports growth in knowledge, maturity, wellness, and readiness for a life of success and global citizenship. The Board further believes that schools must ensure that Personal Technology (Cell Phone) Use in Schools policies address student relationships with technology, online spaces, social media, and cell phones and their impact on learning and mental health. Learn more in the State's Position Statement and Policy Guidance PDF (August 2024).

Join us for the October 9, 2024 District Partnership Advisory Council (DPAC) meeting, which will be dedicated to the new focus on cellphone use in schools. The meeting will include an expert panel of GPS administrators and regional thought partners. The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. virtually on Zoom. Learn more here.

School is better with you! In school, every day.
The Connecticut State Department of Education's (CSDE) School Is Better with You campaign website offers resources that promote the importance of attending school, every day, while raising awareness about chronic absenteeism (which is missing 10% or more of school, or 18+ days per year). If you're not sure when to keep your child home sick, your child is missing school due to anxiety, or you have other concerns about your child attending school, FAQs on the portal may help.
